Suppose one-person come into a coffee shop and order for 3 cups of coffee but only take one! And told the seller to give rest two cups coffee to the poor or who needed. The rest two cups of coffee are called pending coffee.

This idea was first generated in Italy in 2011. In the Italian language, they called it " A caffè sospeso" that means suspended coffee. It's the work of the charity.

The Wikipedia definition is "The tradition began in the working-class cafés of Naples, where someone who had experienced good luck would order a sospeso, paying the price of two coffees but receiving and consuming only one. A poor person enquiring later whether there was a sospeso available would then be served a coffee for free. Coffee shops in other countries have adopted the sospeso to increase sales, and to promote kindness and caring."

There was a claim that the tradition is 100 years old. But my opinion is that threw the claim in the garbage because the benefits are incredible.

The winter average temperature varies from 6°C in Italy. No doubt in the winter season their homeless people is needed it. And it is a good idea for Italy.

Like Italy Starbucks and many countries such as Bulgaria, Ukraine, Australia, Canada, Romania, Russia, Spain, Argentina, the United States, and Costa Rica start suspended coffee idea.

In March 2013, John Sweeney launched a Facebook page for "Suspended Coffees", which by 2015 had led to the purchase of over 15 million coffees in 34 countries.

Like suspended coffee, there is another word "suspended meal or pending meal"

Suspended coffee and suspended meal are kind of similar thing. If we replace suspended coffee with a suspended meal in the definition of suspended coffee that will be a definition of a suspended coffee.

According to Wikipedia the definition of the suspended meal is "A suspended meal or pending meal is a meal which people pay for in advance, to be provided to those that request it later. The extra meal that they purchase is suspended; that is, the restaurant will mark down the sum of money and ‘suspend’ the additional meal for the poor. Suspended meals today range from a cup of coffee to a meal set.”

The version of suspended coffee is used in different ways in many countries such as:

Turkey: They started "askıda ekmek” that means "bread on a hanger” or " suspended bread".

Not only Turkey but also Italy, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Dubai start this innovative idea.

I think many Asian countries like Bangladesh, India etc can generate this amusing idea.

If you see in Bangladesh their population is almost 167 million in 2019.

Though their GDP is 1829 USD in 2019 and their poverty level is 42%.

So, the country is a mixture of poor and rich people.

So, it is possible to create a brotherhood among them.

The question is how can we create brotherhood among them?

First of all, we have to find out the problem of the poor.

In Bangladesh their problems are-

  • Need for food
  • Need medicine
  • Need for money
  • Need treatment
  • Need clothes
  • Place for stay
  • Need education

If we can solve all of this problem then we can sort out our problems.

So the first question is how can we sort out this problem?

My idea is

  • For food, we can generate a pending coffee/meal idea. Like in the fruit shop we can start pending fruit, in the restaurant we can start pending meal, in the vegetable shop we can start pending vegetable etc.
  • In pharmacy, rich people can pay some amount in advance to the shopkeeper for the poor.
  • The money problem can only sort out by the government. We can help the government by timely paying taxes.
  • Treatment is very much needed for them. Some time they huge amount for their treatment like operation or something else. We can make poor funds for them
  • For clothes, we can help them in many ways, we can help them both with new and old clothes.
  • Shelter: When we see people living on the road under the open we don't like this. If we have some extra room in our house this problem can easily sort out by giving the room to them.
  • The last problem to sort out is education. I think the government can take an effective step to solving this. And the government already take many steps to solve this.

There is some misuse too. Such as

  • Dishonest shopkeepers can tell lie to both poor and rich.
  • Some people can take this in so many time without any need.
  • Fake poor people problem can be created
  • If the government take enough steps all this problem can easily sort out.

There are benefits and despite too. If vote which one is more effective I think benefit.

What do you think?

We can generate this idea in Bangladesh, India and many more countries.
